245. 26-Man Battle Royal

WrestleMania XXVI
March 28, 2010
University of Phoenix Stadium
Glendale, AZ

Participants: Mark Henry, Shad Gaspard, JTG, Goldust, Yoshi Tatsu, Santino Marella, Primo, Funaki, Slam Master J, Jimmy Wang Yang, Chris Masters, Vladimir Kozlov, The Great Khali, Finlay, William Regal, Luke Gallows, Carlito, Tyler Reks, Zack Ryder, Mike Knox, Trent Barretta, Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith, Caylen Croft, Chavo Guerrero, Lance Archer

One interesting piece of information about this one is that they also introduce the NXT rookies who would go on to form The Nexus, including Wade Barrett, Ryback (as Skip Sheffield), Darren Young, and of course Daniel Bryan.

As far as the match itself, it’s a pretty standard battle royal. The big guys go out early, including The Great Khali and Luke Gallows, who is eliminated by Cryme Tyme. As it thins, the crowd is sad to see Funaki and Goldust go in succession. Perhaps the biggest disappointment for the live crowd is when, after a rampage with the cobra, Santino Marella is tossed from the match by Finley.

We are eventually left a final five of Carlito, Yoshi Tatsu, Mike Knox, Finlay, and Zack Ryder in his half tights-half trunks phase. As Mike Knox dominates and sets his sights on The Man Who Loves To Fight, Hornswoggle appears to help Finlay take out the big man. Hornswoggle executes a tadpole splash on the big guy and Finlay runs over to clothesline Carlito out of the match. Finlay then lifts Knox on to his shoulders and walks him to the ropes, but Ryder comes up from behind and sends them both over the top.

Yoshi Tatsu and Zack Ryder are the last two. Tatsu clotheslines Ryder over the top, but he stays on the apron. Tatsu then delivers a kick to the head of Long Island Iced Z and Yoshi Tatsu gets a WrestleMania win. The match is just another kick off battle royal, but there have been worse.
