We’ve already looked at the results of this match, but this is how we got to Chavo Guerrero’s title defense. The only ECW match at WrestleMania XXIV was set to be a title defense by Chavo, but he had no opponent, so this was placed on the preshow to find a challenger.
The battle royal itself is inoffensive but largely uninteresting. At least the crowd is excited for it, as a WrestleMania crowd would be for any opening match.
The best moment comes when Jamie Noble is tossed, but uses other fallen wrestlers like stepping stones to return to the ring, before getting kicked right back out again. Snitsky, Kane, and Mark Henry are left as the last three, with the other two teaming up against Kane. But instead of working up some drama, Snitsky is tossed very quickly, and about 30 seconds later, Kane delivers a big boot to Henry that really shouldn’t make anyone go over the top rope, but it does.
Further bringing this match down is the fact that the resulting match last only a few seconds as well, which you can revisit at #303.
