By now everyone knows that there is a coming brand split for the WWE in the summer of 2016. But let us not forget the issues with the first brand split, especially when they had a third brand, the re-launch of ECW.
A much worse option for a third brand than the current NXT, Chavo Guerrero came in to WrestleMania as the brand’s champion. But instead of building a major title defense, they decided to have a single match on the pay-per-view, and a battle royal on the preshow. In the battle royal (which we will discuss further very soon), Kane was victorious. A few matches later, Chavo entered and prepared himself for The Big Red Monster.
But instead of coming back down the aisle, Kane emerged from under the ring. He chokeslammed a surprised champion and pinned him to win the belt. In 11 seconds, Kane had ended both the reign of Chavo and the ECW portion of WrestleMania XXIV.
It’s safe to assume that Raw, Smackdown, and NXT for that matter, will be much more protected this time around.
