324. Akebono vs. Big Show

WrestleMania 21
April 3, 2005
Staples Center
Los Angeles, CA

Yes, for some reason there was a sumo match at WrestleMania. Worse, unlike the quick knockout by Butterbean of Bart Gunn back at WrestleMania XV, this match is clearly a work.

After some initial posturing, they shove each other around for a minute, and then Big Show does his signature taunt. They collide again, Big Show sort of lifts Akebono, but then is tossed out of the ring in a move that does not look like natural sumo wrestling at all, but instead, a poor pro wrestling version of such.

The men shake each other’s hand and walk out looking like a couple of giant weird babies. A colossal waste of time.
